Serhat Mustafa Kılıç (born July 8, 1975, in Ankara) is a Turkish film, theater, and television actor, as well as a television personality and singer. Over the years, he has built a distinguished career in acting, both on stage and screen, earning critical acclaim for his performances. In addition to acting, he has also contributed to the arts as a director, lecturer, and founder of an acting school.

Early Life

Serhat Mustafa Kılıç was born on July 8, 1975, in Ankara, Turkey. His family is originally from Malatya. In 1994, he was awarded a scholarship to study at Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Department of Theatre. He graduated in 1998 with high honors, marking the beginning of his journey in the performing arts.

Career

Kılıç began his professional acting career in 1998 with Kayıplar (Widows), a play directed by Rutkay Aziz at Ankara Art Theatre. The following year, he joined Diyarbakır State Theatre for the 1999-2000 season. During this period, he also taught stage and acting at Diyarbakır City Theatres and directed the play Barış Adası. In 2002, he moved to Erzurum State Theatre to complete his compulsory service. He pursued a master's degree in directing at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, which he completed in 2005. That same year, he began teaching at Atatürk University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Theatre. In 2008, he resigned from the State Theatres and moved to Istanbul to focus on his acting career. He worked with prominent theaters such as Tiyatro Dot and BKM. In the 2009-2010 season, he performed in İntiharın Genel Revası at Istanbul City Theatres, where he played four different characters. The play ran successfully for three seasons, earning him a nomination for "Most Successful Musical and Comedy Actor of the Year" at the 14th Afife Theater Awards. Expanding his career, Kılıç founded a production company, Cats&Dogs (Soho Istanbul), in 2012. In 2014, he gained significant recognition for his role as İmam Hamdi in Kış Uykusu (Winter Sleep), directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and his performance earned him a nomination for "Best Supporting Actor" at the 47th SİYAD Awards. That same year, he established School Serhat Kılıç, an institution offering training in acting, writing, dance, and vocal performance. Through this initiative, he continues to contribute to the development of new talents in the performing arts.
