Biography

Çağatay Ulusoy is a Turkish actor and model known for his performances in television series and films. He gained recognition with his debut role in Adını Feriha Koydum and later starred in hit series such as Medcezir, İçerde, and The Protector, Netflix’s first Turkish original series. Over the years, he has become one of the most prominent actors in the Turkish entertainment industry, receiving multiple awards, including the Golden Butterfly Award and GQ Man of the Year Turkey.

Early Life

Çağatay Ulusoy was born on September 23, 1990, in Istanbul, Turkey. His father’s family, of Turkish descent, immigrated from Bulgaria to Turkey, while his mother has Bosniak roots. He has a younger brother named Atalay. As a child, Ulusoy was very energetic, and his parents encouraged him to participate in sports. He dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player for nine years and was also skilled in swimming and diving. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Istanbul University’s Department of Garden Design and Landscaping. However, he soon developed an interest in modeling and acting. At the age of 19, he started working as a model, and in 2010, he won the Best Model of Turkey contest, which opened the doors to his acting career.

Career

Following his success in modeling, Ulusoy was offered his first acting role on the same night he won Best Model of Turkey. He was cast as Emir Sarrafoğlu in the TV series Adını Feriha Koydum (2011–2012). The first two seasons were highly successful, but the third season, Emir’in Yolu, failed to meet expectations and was canceled due to low ratings, partly because his co-star Hazal Kaya did not return. In 2011, he made his film debut with a supporting role in Anadolu Kartalları. The following year, he starred in the short film Paranoia. Between 2013 and 2015, he played Yaman Koper in Medcezir, a Turkish adaptation of The O.C., further cementing his popularity. From 2016 to 2017, he starred in İçerde, a crime drama inspired by The Departed. In 2016, he appeared in the romantic drama film Delibal alongside Leyla Lydia Tuğutlu. That same year, he became the face of the fashion brand Colin’s, featuring in a commercial with Victoria’s Secret model Taylor Hill. Between 2018 and 2020, he starred as Hakan in The Protector, the first-ever Turkish Netflix original series. In 2021, he played the lead role in the Netflix film Paper Lives and starred in the period drama Yeşilçam on BluTV. Throughout his career, Ulusoy has established himself as a versatile actor, earning recognition both in Turkey and internationally.
